Dirt and debris accumulate on synthetic sports surfaces through a variety of different ways, a major one being the trafficking of dirt onto the surface by players’ footwear.

You will notice how the area around the gateway in particular will quickly become contaminated. This in itself represents a health and safety risk, as the area will become slippery, compromising player safety. Eventually, over a period of time this contamination will continue to spread onto the playing area of the pitch. At this stage it is likely that the infill will need to be removed and replaced with fresh material.

As one of the UK’s leading authorities on maintaining synthetic pitches, we at Technical Surfaces have realised this problem and have designed suitable Entrance Matting to reduce this risk. Our specialist Entrance Matting comprises a hard-wearing, dense woven nylon carpet (12mm pile) with a latex backing, which acts to brush the footwear while trapping the dirt within the pile. The matting incorporates an integral debris detector to catch debris and prevent cross-contamination – bespoke ridges indicate when the product requires emptying. The matting can be easily cleaned with a brush or periodically power washed to remove the collected debris.

The matting is supplied loose laid, and is available in sizes from 3m x 1.1m.
