It is with great sadness that Technical Surfaces announces the loss of one of its family, Commercial Director Greg Hill, who passed away suddenly on Sunday 22nd September 2019 at the age of 52.
In partnership with Jonathan Gunn, Greg established Technical Surfaces in 1997, and together they engineered the growth of the company from a bedroom, to a small annexe in Whetstone, to its current position at Standards House, with a family of 50+ employees and contractors to carry on the good work of Technical Surfaces.
Greg was directly overseeing the company’s further expansion, taking on new premises, rebranding our company offices and vehicles, and developing new ventures online. Greg had an artistic vision and flair, which flows through every division of the company.
Away from the office, Greg was renowned for bringing the life and soul to the party with his love of cheesy pop music, and was always first on the dancefloor at Christmas parties and works nights out. He recently pioneered our out-of-hours Technical Surfaces Friday Night Bar, fitted out with an entertainment suite of pub classic games, table football and even a golf simulator.
Outside of Technical Surfaces, Greg was a keen athlete, taking part in Iron Man competitions, triathlons and a charity bike ride from Land’s End to John O’Groats. He was also very much a family man, enjoying time with his wife Jo, his two daughters Rhianna and Phoebe, and his dogs.
Greg was immensely proud of his company and was much-loved by everyone who worked for him. He will be sorely missed as a friend, employer and above all as a man who enjoyed life to the full.
